Ways To Colorblock
- Monochromatic - matching a similar color in different shades
- Complimentary - there are two ways to do this:
- combining two different colors that appear directly on the opposite of the wheel (it can create a contrasting effect, but you can still match them by finding a different hue or shade)
- mixing three different colors (you can do this by dividing the wheel into three equilateral triangles, the three points or colors where the triangle intersects work well together)
- Analogous - pairing colors that are directly next to each other
- Neutral - pairing neutral colors such as black, white, or brown with bright or neutral colors
Here are the most widely-used color combinations in colorblocking.
